I’ve never been to the night club before – Martha Ankomah

A list actress Martha Ankomah has opened up on her personal life with emulating by saying she has never been to the nightclub by herself before.

She added that the only time she is seen in a nightclub is when she is on set shooting a movie, and not with friends on a fun day out.

“I’ve never been to the nightclub before. The only time I go to the nightclub is when I am acting. My friends know. When they are going out at night I don’t go.” She added that it has helped her in so many ways. “it has helped me a save money”.You will have to go to Sunday school before you eat rice water. For me, becoming a Christian started from childhood. My mum and dad contributed a lot. Growing up till date, I give credit to God and my mum. When I give birth, I’ll train my daughters the same way”.

Asked how she started acting, she said she started acting from a very early age but didn’t exhibit her roles as an actress when she was in senior high school.

It therefore surprised most of her colleagues from shs when they saw her for the first time in a movie due to her calm nature.

“Most of my friends at Laboni shs never knew I will be an actress. I didn’t go for entertainment but I was acting from basic school. They were somehow surprised”.

Touching on a painful experience she has had that she feels took the intervention of God to save her, the beautiful actress shared her story of hoe she was electrocuted as a child, but was saved by an elder at church.

“There was a child near a canopy at church and I wanted to go pick her up. Just when I got there, I got stuck. I shouted but nobody believed me. I started crying so people realised it was serious. My mum was called and she didn’t know what to do. It was a church elder who came to hit me and I fell very hard I could have died".

Martha Ankomah entreated young people to make God the king and ruler of their lives adding that He will definitely make their lives perfect.Martha was the guest at Hitz Fm’s Damascus Experience hosted by Frankys on Sunday when she made this revelation and a couple of personal experiences she has had as a Christian.

“Martha Ankomah is known for some wild scenes she has played in movies, most often portraying as a bad girl, but she has assured its not who she is in real life. In a rather surprise question from the host as to whether she puts on earrings, she disclosed that she doesn’t and only put on clips when she is on set for a movie. She added that it was due to her early days as an Adventist. “I only put on clips when I am acting”.

As monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, Martha explained how she got into Christianity, saying it was a family custom to attend Sunday school before you are giving food to eat at home and also watch television, and that is what shaped her Christian lifestyle.

Boy, 16, Paralyzed After Being Stabbed at NPP Rally Cries for Help

 

A sixteen-year-old boy left paralyzed after he was stabbed during a rally of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the run-up to the 2016 election is not giving up on his education despite failing to report at a Senior High School he was posted to at Kwahu due to his paralysis in 2017.

Determined not to allow his condition to deny him an education, Prince Boateng has been studying feverishly to resist this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to get reposted under the free-fee senior high school policy despite being bedridden.

Boateng was in form 2 at Koforidua -Asokore Salvation Army Junior High School in the Eastern Region when he was stabbed whilst returning to the house from a political party rally organized in the Asokore vicinity by the then opposition NPP and addressed by then-candidate President Akufo-Addo.

Kumi Guitar Blasts Medikal Over "Abowa Wo To Nono" Punchline.

Ghanaian highlife musician, Kumi Guitar has condemned the use of vulgar words in songs like Medikals 'Abowa wo to nono'.   The Zylofon artiste in a studio discussion with Sammy Flex, host of 'Showbiz Agenda' on Zylofon FM revealed that some of the words Ghanaian artiste use in their songs have a negative effect on the youth.  He recounted how his little son who is now learning how to talk was listening to a song which rapper Medikal was featured on and had the term 'Abowa wo to nono'.

  He said he immediately had to turn off the television so his son won't hear the term.  According to Kumi Guitar, musicians should be more creative about the kind of words they use because for him he can do a piece of adult music that will be hard for a little boy of his son's age to understand.  

However, veteran High-life artiste Rex Omar earlier in an interview endorsed profane songs been recorded by some artistes in the country saying he sees nothing wrong with them.  According to him, there is no problem with profane songs just that the mentality some people have behind the songs is what makes the songs look bad. He passed this comment whiles speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Accra-based Hitz FM.  “There is nothing like a profane song it’s just how people read meanings into it”, he revealed.  

He also added that the songs that are been tagged by people as profane and bad songs are even good because it educates one more on sex.

Current happenings at Zylofon Media/Music seems to be bringing on feuds between employees and signers of the brand.

Gospel musician, Joyce Blessing has cautioned the Artiste and Repertoire (A&R) manager at Zylofon Music, Willi Roi to desist from denigrating her image.  Speaking on Adom FMs Drive Time show dubbed “Ofie Kwanso” on Wednesday, Joyce politely asked Willi Roi to stop dabbling in her affairs “he is not the one who signed me to Zylofon Music.”  

 Zylofon-signed artiste was reported to have parted ways with the label for an obvious reason known to the top managers at Zylofon.  She added that, all artiste managers at the music label have been asked to resign from all their positions, leaving her with no option that to name her husband, Dave Joy as new manager.  

Following this reportage, Willie Roi in a Facebook comment asked the ‘I Swerve’ singer to all monies and loans she took from the label if she isn’t happy.  But reacting to this, Joyce Blessing denied parting ways with the label.  “I have not left the label and those who did the reportage came out to apologize” she stated.  

Willi Roi, she added, “He had to relax saying I should return everything. He didn’t sign me so he has no right to tell lies to Ghanaians. He can’t do to me like he did to Bhimnation [Stonebwoy].”  Joyce is currently promoting her new song, “Repent”.

We never arrested Menzgold CEO: CID Boss

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, has denied claims that the Chief Executive Officer of gold dealership firm, Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah was arrested for operating a Ponzi scheme.

Her denial follows claims by the founder of think tank Danquah Institute (DI), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, that NAM1 has fled Ghana and gone into hiding.


Following a demonstration by aggrieved clients of the company in Kumasi on Tuesday, 8 January 2018, Mr Asare Otchere-Darko tweeted: “I understand the owner of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, has breached his bail condition and absconded.

“We can’t allow those who allegedly dupe people with such impunity to get away with it that easily. Let’s smoke them out, wherever they are, and throw the book at them!


“While I will not want a pesewa of my tax money to be involved with this Ponzi matter, I believe the majority of Ghanaians will agree with me that the law must come down heavily on those who use such schemes to destroy the lives of many people”.

A 33-year-old private school teacher, Akinsoku Love Olomi, has been arrested for defiling two pupils aged 6 and 7, after luring them with biscuits in Ogun State.

The mother of one of the girls, Jenifer Mustapha, said the suspect, who resides at Baba Esther area in Iyesi-Ota, took advantage of the innocent kids.

She explained that her daughter told her that the man saw she and her friend playing within the premises of the school and called them into one of the classrooms.

Jenifer said: “the man gave money to one of children to go and buy biscuit and before the arrival of that one, he had defiled the other girl with him.

He then sent the one he had already defiled to go and buy another biscuit and he used that opportunity to defile the second one as well“.

The woman said she noticed change in her daughter’s countenance, which made her to question the girl. Upon the interogation, she revealed that it was Uncle Love that tampered with her private part.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident.

According to him, “Upon interrogation, Love admitted that he defiled one of the girls. The suspect claimed that he only fingered the second girl.”

Tears flow as Air Force Officers killed in Helicopter crash buried

Two pilots  and three crew members of the Nigerian Air force who recently died in the recent Nigerian Air force mi-35m helicopter air crash were buried today in Abuja.

The air officers died in the line of duty while providing close air support to troops of the 145 taskforce battalion at Damasak on January the second in Borno state.


The chief of air staff Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar while saluting the courage of the air officers assured Nigerians that the insurgency will soon be brought to an end.

Lady jailed for killing a man who bought her for s3x, granted clemency

In one of his last acts as Tennessee governor, Bill Haslam, on Monday, granted executive clemency to Cyntoia Brown, commuting her life sentence for murder and making her eligible for release on Aug. 7, 2019.

Under the conditions for her release, Brown will be required to undergo regular counseling, work at least 50 hours of community service, and get a job.

Brown, a victim of child sex trafficking, was sentenced to life for the killing of 43-year-old Johnny Allen in 2004.


She was 16 at the time and living with her 24-year-old boyfriend, a pimp known as “Kut Throat” who forced her into prostitution and raped her.

Allen solicited her for sex, and she shot him dead at his home, saying she thought he was reaching for his gun to kill her, according to court documents.


Brown was tried as an adult and convicted of first-degree murder, among other charges. She was sentenced to life in 2006.

In December, Tennessee’s Supreme Court ruled that Brown must remain in prison for at least 51 years before she was eligible for release.

National Chief Imam causes arrest of 4 more attackers of Owusu Bempah

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu has caused the arrest of four more attackers of the Leader and Founder of the Glorious Word Ministry, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah.

According to MyNewsGh.com confirmed sources at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, the suspects have since been admitted bail and are expected to be arraigned before court later this week on various charges.


The police administration has commended him for showing exemplary leadership by exhibiting his abhorrence for violence irrespective of who is involved and allowing the law to take its course.

Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu who had earlier condemned the action of the rampaging youth, appealed to them to forgive the Man of God irrespective of the provocation following his prophecies on New Year ’s Eve to the effect he was set to die in 2019.


"We are living in peace with fellow Christians and other religion so let’s maintain that relationship. Leave him with his character and forgive him. As for death every soul shall taste it either today or tomorrow so no need to attack the man. Please leave him and forgive him, I am begging you, I am begging you,” he pleaded.

It would be recalled that MyNewsGh.com reported of how machete-wielding youth numbering about 15 were seen breaking the church billboards at the entrance of the Odorkor Branch and shouting insults at Owusu Bempah in the Hausa language. They vowed to teach him a lesson for “touching their Imam”, brandishing cutlasses as they thronged into the church.

He explained that, for this reason, he previously had a serious confrontation with his colleague pastor on television. 

“For three years or four years now I have been engaged in a turf war with Owusu Bempah over prophecies. “What he used to do was to wait for my prophecies and then he will pick them up and add his to the extent we had a serious confrontation on Adom TV", Bishop J.Y Adu is quoted as saying by MyNewsGh.com.

He added: “The prophecies I gave days before New Year eve are those he listens to on YouTube and then claim it as his.

“When he was confronted on live radio he said I am a small boy and that he does not know me.” Bishop J.Y Adu said Owusu Bempah has made it a habit to always steal his prophecies, adding that the latter got into trouble recently because he could not properly imitate his prophecies.

“He has been stealing my prophecies not today and we have been struggling over it. The day he does not properly steal my prophecies he gets into trouble like this one.” Owusu Bempah, who is the leader of the Glorious Word and Power Ministries International, has come under the spotlight following certain predictions he made on December 31, 2018.

He mentioned personalities like Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ex-president John Mahama and the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu. In reaction, some angry youth took the law into their own hands by storming Owusu Bempah’s church at Odorkor to vandalise properties.

D'banj meets President Nana Akufo-Addo

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, known by his stage name as D'banj, has paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, as part of his visit to the country.

The musician revealed the meeting with the first gentleman of the land was centered on issues pertaining to the arts and entertainment industry.

D'banj shared photos of him with the President in his office at the Jubilee House in Accra on his Instagram page on Monday, January 7, as the country marked its debut Constitution Day celebration.


The BET Award-winning artiste expressed his excitement about having a met with the President stating that it was a great opportunity for both parties to discuss and devise a way to “take the creative industry to the next level” from 2019 this year.

Man kills his fiancee for opening his whiskey before him, which is against his culture

A 35-year-old South African who greatly values his culture, has killed his 27-year-old fiancée over a bottle of whiskey.

According to Dailysun. Za, when the suspect bought a bottle of Jameson whiskey, he told everyone in his household he would be the one to open it.

But his fiancee, Palesa Moloi, could not resist the booze when she saw it inside the cupboard, and took a sip, triggering the suspect to stab her several times for not obeying him.


Captain Bernard Matimulane said when cops arrived at the couple’s rented room, they found the drunken suspect staring at Palesa’s body.

“When police interrogated him, he told them he killed the woman because she opened his bottle of whiskey and drank some while he was not around. He told the cops only he, as the head of the household, was entitled to open the liquor.


He claimed it was his culture,” he said. The suspect was charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrates Court on Thursday.
