Some have taken the bold step to rebrand themselves.

YEN brings you 10 musicians who scaled up their brands to another level when they changed their stage names.

1. Bandana to Shatta Wale

Shatta Wale’s music career started on a humble note, but he is currently one of Ghana’s foremost dancehall artistes.

On his birthday this year, the president, Nana Akufo-Addo extended an invitation to him to the Flagstaff House.

3. Ayigbe Edem to Edem

He is one of Ghana’s finest rappers. He has been consistent with his style of music, right from the beginning till date. He decided to do away with the “Ayigbe” in his name, upon learning that it is derogatory.

4. Abortion to Coded

He has been a member of the popular music group, 4X4, right from its inception till date. They have treated Ghanaians to some good songs such as World Trade Centre and hotgirls.com. Coded is married to Maame Efua, who works at Alisa Hotel in Accra.

NPP 'big men' giving jobs to girlfriends – Spio-Garbrah

National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, has accused the NPP government of giving jobs to girlfriends of some big men.

Speaking to Paul Adom -Otchere on Metro TV’s “Good Evening Ghana” Thursday, the communication specialist said the Akufo-Addo government is guilty of cronyism adding, “We now have a family and friends and girlfriends government”.

When pressed further by the host to provide evidence to back the ‘girlfriends’ allegation, Spio-Garbrah pointed to pro-NDC newspaper, “The Ghana Palaver” as his source of information.

“The Palaver has been publishing stories about girlfriends being offered jobs,” he maintained.

“… but the Ghana Palaver is skewed”, Adom-Otchere pointed out.   The NDC guru who confirmed his interest in the party’s presidential race on the programme lashed out at the government for doing little to curb vigilantism, which has become rife in the last ten months of the current administration.

According to him, as a respected lawyer who championed the course of human rights, President Akufo-Addo should be the first person to resist violence and anarchy in the country.

He said the international community is very worried about the show of bravado by some vigilante groups, notably the “Delta Force” and the general security situation.

Touching on his presidential ambition, the former Trade Minister rejected the assertion that, he has no constituency or base in the NDC, which might affect his presidential ambition.

Spio-Garbrah  who was  Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States under  the Rawlings regime , explained that there are various interest groups  like chiefs, religious groups, youth, women  groups, businessmen among others, who   may share his ideas and vote for him at the party’s congress, insisting that these groups could also form his base.

He also said women form part of his constituency since he gets along with them. “I get along with women, I have 8 sisters you know,” the former Education Minister told Adom-Otchere.

Edem supports M.anifest’s attack on Zylofon Media

Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that music artiste, Edem, has expressed his support for M.anifest’s “attack” on Zylofon Media.

According to www.ameyawdebrah.com, Edem jumped into the fray, calling for the truth at all times.

His call appears to be in reaction to a tweet by M.anifest that referred to a news report as "lies".

In a tweet that went viral, M.anifest labelled as “lies”, reports that he was present at Becca’s concert, but failed to perform because he had other engagements elsewhere.

Information gleaned at that time sought to indicate that M.anifest was ready to perform on stage, at a time other artistes were having their turn.

It was further alleged that he requested to leave in order to take care of other pressing matters, and as a result could not be on stage.

Music artiste, Becca, put together a concert to mark 10 years in the industry.

Artistes from both Ghana and Nigeria performed in the presence of a charged crowd.

Even though M.anifest was identified as one of the artistes to perform that night, he failed to show up, leading to a myriad of interpretations.

Give me a break; even Mahama lost elections

Defeated boxing champion, Bukom Banku has called on Ghanaians to give him a break as according to him he is not the first person to have been defeated in a contest.

Bastie Samir stopped Bukom Banku in round 7 of their scheduled 12 round non-title bout in front of a huge crowd at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday night.

It was the first defeat, a humiliating one at that, in the career of the popular fighter, who is a former WBO Africa Cruiserweight champion.

Bukom Banku struggled to find his feet during most parts of the bout.

Born Braimah Kamoko, the boxer, who had promised to knock out the Bastie in the 6th round, was no match for him.

And Ghanaians have since taken to social media to mock the man who has professed support for former President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party.

The former President have also issued a statement consoling him over the bitter defeat.

In an interview on Accra-based Kasapa FM on Monday, the Boxer called on Ghanaians to give him a break as according to him, he is not the first person to taste defeat in a major contest.

He referred Ghanaians to how the former President tasted similar defeat in the 2016 elections and claimed that is his consolation.

“I am killing my ear drum, I am killing my heart, if somebody is talking something that I am losing the fight, I don’t care, even John Mahama lost the elections…,” he said.

To him claims that he did not adequately prepare for the fight is neither here nor there as according to him, he prepared for the match in five months.

“I took five months to prepare for the fight, if somebody is talking I losing the fight, I don’t care…,” he said.

Prez. Mahama called me after Bastie 'Nearly killed' me- Bukom Banku

Ghanaian boxer, Braimah Kamoko (Bukom Banku), has said former President John Dramani Mahama called him after the Saturday bout against Samir Bastie.

“It’s true I am NDC, but I have other NPP members like Adjiri Blankson who supported my fight. I have NDC people who were against me so the trolling does not bother me.

“John Mahama called me on my phone after the fight and he said God is with me,” Banku said on Kasapa FM Monday, October 23.

He dispelled assertions that his opponent used black magic against him during the fight.

“Juju is not used in boxing. I’ve been beaten and I accept my defeat,” he said.

Bukom Banko, who until Saturday was unbeaten, was knocked out by Bastie Samir in the seventh round in a fight dubbed ''Make or Break'' at the Bukom Boxing Arena, in Accra.

In February 2015, there was a similar train accident also at Tesano, involving an Accra-Nsawam bound train, where part of the train disentangled from the remaining coaches.
The state of Ghana’s rail lines/coaches
The Accra-Nsawam shuttle serves thousands of commuters to and from the capital on a daily basis, making at least four trips, but is largely considered a death trap.
It is the most convenient mode of commuting for most people living in Accra and Nsawam, especially, traders who convey farm produce and processed food from Nsawam to Accra each day.
But the state of the country’s rail tracks, and even the trains themselves, put passengers at risk.

Highlights: Bukom Banku received the greatest defeat in his life from Bastie Samir

Ghana's Amateur boxing team captain, really lived up to his sobriquet "The Beast", when he virtually demolished Braimah "Bukom Banku" Kamoko in their non-titled Cruiserweight contest at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra on Saturday night.

Bastir stunned spectators and viewers alike when he handed Braimah Kamoko his first boxing defeat.

"The Beast", who won silver in the welterweight division at the 2007 All-Africa Games, subjected his opponent to such severe punishment that when referee for the night, Roger Banor, initially stopped the bout midday in round seven (7) of their scheduled 12round contest, everyone thought he was going to declare a technical knock-out. Rather, it was to allow the ringside doctor assess the cut on Bukom Banku's right eye, which was bleeding profusely.

When he re-started proceedings, Bastir lost no time in unleashing a flurry of punches to his opponent's head and body, who clearly appeared green at the gills. An overhead left hook sent Banku to the floor for the second and final time in the fight.

He had earlier kissed the canvas in the 3rd round following a wicked +shot to the  body.

So comprehensive was the defeat that at the end of the contest, none of his vociferous supporters offered any form protest. Infact, a couple of them could be seen crying their hearts out.

His record after this famous win now reads (16-0-1, 15 KO’s)

Banku, a former WBO Africa Cruiserweight champion came in with rich experience as well, having fought 29 times with 22 knockouts and no defeat.

Both Bastir and Banku had earlier engaged in a war of words ahead of this much-awaited bout, with the latter vowing to end the night prematurely via a sixth-round knockout.

But Samir, who was the underdog ahead of the fight despite his 14 wins and a draw in 15 bouts, refused to engage Banku in preaching a knockout, but indicated his resolve to defeat Banku anyway by taking his chances.

And so he did, in such spectacular fashion!

The cruiserweight non-title bout with the tagline ‘Make or Break,’ was promoted by Box Office Promotions with support from DSTV (Supersport) and GoTV.

Reasons why men run after "BIG butts"

loading...

For some time now, big butts ladies have been a major attraction for many, especially on social media.

Those with little backsides go through the trouble of finding a way to make this part of their body larger or wear padded pants to give them that sensual look. Men for some reasons are attracted to women with massive backsides.

While this may be considered unbelievably dreadful, it is the reality. They are after all firstly moved by sight and not by touch like the women. Seeing a woman endowed in that aspect frolicking on the street gets many men, both young and old fantasizing.

However, quantity isn’t quality so the same feature could irritate them as well if not packaged properly. Although, many guys would ignore the facial features of a woman and rate her beauty using that part of her body and the curves she has.

Sexual Fantasies

Men get turned on seeing women with big butts. It is one of the first things they discover in women. For most men, it’s the body first, then the face. They analyze how well formed the shapes are or how soft the butts would be to touch. Being able to have sexual relations with women endowed this way is a major achievement to most. Some men could go wild with desire when they imagine the things they could do with women with big butts while some simply can’t find the right words to use when they know the big butt is theirs, it’s like a trophy won.

Boost Courage

The joy of having people stare at them while they walk with ladies who have big butts’ got some men swirling in cloud nine. Most guys lust after women like this because it adds to their self-esteem. Other people look at them and give them credit for being the ones in control of such big things. Some men work this feeling into their personality and become more confident when it comes to issues that concern the opposite sex. Other guys also admire them in some ways and make lewd remarks that boost the courage of the men who are seeing those women.

Things They Feed Their Minds On

The social media and things that are being shared there have a major influence on men; it has a manipulative effect on them. As much as people would talk about the obsession of men with big butts, the roles women play in this situation should also be discussed and critically reviewed. It is the norm now for women to take pictures in positions that make their butts the focal point of attraction. It’s a feedback strategy; the message is being passed and the men are looking in that direction. Most musical videos display women flaunting big butts and doing things with it. Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda video would give a man over a thousand ideas of what to do with butts. Subconsciously, a man’s interest is piqued when it comes to big butts. He would, therefore, look out for women who would see to his wild cravings.

Sexual Position Sex is blown out of proportion with women with big butts. They represent sexual escapades and the men love to do the exploits. Naturally, the first thing that comes to a man’s mind on seeing a woman with big butts is how to get laid. Different bawdy songs come to mind then and ideas won’t stop coming. Men love to try different sex positions with women; the doggie style seems to be their best when it comes to women with big butts. This is because it gives them the double advantage of watching the collision between the butts as they make their impacts.

Satisfaction Of Having Full Hands

No guy wants to make love to a woman with bones jutting out of every angle. Men prefer women who have full backsides they could hold on to at the peak of sexual pleasure. Seeing these women and being able to touch their big butts without reservation gives so many men a deep sense of satisfaction. They love to allow their hands wander and feel flesh in all the rightful places.

Ability To Produce Brainy Kids

Women with big butts are presumed to be healthy and have an air of vitality. Women with narrow waists and big butts scream two things to men. They aren’t pregnant judging by the waist and the big butts and broad hips say they could go through childbirth easily and produce healthy children. Moreover, the butts contain Gluteofemoral fats. This is usually found in the thighs and hips. The Gluteofemoral fat is linked with the production of breast milk which is essential for the development of a child’s brain.

NDC disowns Spio-Garbrah; this is why

Comments by the former Trades Minister, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah labeling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as an ethnocentric-based party does not reflect the position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a party official has revealed.

“That is his personal view and I do not think that is the position of NDC”, according to Deputy General Secretary of NDC in charge of operations, Koku Anyidoho.

“I speak for National Executives and Dr. Spio-Garbrah view is entitled to him alone “, the outspoken Deputy General Secretary disclosed on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM’s.

“He may be talking from experience or information we are not privy to”, he told host Kofi Asante Enning.

Leading members of NPP have also lashed out the NDC presidential candidate hopeful for describing their party as an ethnocentric party ever in the history of the country.

“It is intellectually dishonest for Dr. Spio-Garbrah to say NPP is an ethnocentric party”, Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen stated.

“It very sad that people who want to become Presidents of this country are now lying their way out. …so called intellect is supposed to know better and not be mischievous because of politics”, he fumed.

“Dr. Spio-Garbrah should not bury his intellect in politics”, outspoken Nana Obiri Boahen urged the former Trades Minister.

“NPP is not an ethnocentric party. It is a mass party”, Nana Obiri Boahen insisted in an interview hosted by Kofi Asante Enning.

Footballers should stop masturbation-Awudu Isaka

Former Black Starlets player Awudu Issaka has cautioned footballers to desist from masturbation.

According to Awudu Issaka, affectionately known as the Disco Dancer, the act of masturbation is what is ‘killing’ our footballers and making their lives miserable.

Advising Ghana Black Starlets team in India in an exclusive interview on Happy FM, Issaka, who was part of Ghana’s 1995 U-17 World Cup winning squad and the 1997 World Youth Championship 1997 in Malaysia, he said,“what’s killing our footballers is masturbating, so any footballer who masturbates must put an end to it. The implication is that it will make you impotent.”

The former RSC Anderlecht player also stated that parents and coaches should educate young players to remain focused and not to involve themselves in that bad act.

“Any player who masturbates gets himself into a spiritual marriage and it also affects your manhood. Your progress will be stunted and your life will be miserable if you indulge in that evil practice, so it’s time we educate our up and coming players to put end to it if they are already into it.”

Ghanaian pastors who talk like parots;they are always in the news

Ghana is a very religious country, especially with staunch Christian believers who do not ‘mess around’ when it comes to their church leaders.

Many churches have sprung up over the last couple of years, with different 'men of God' preaching the gospel and amassing a large gathering of followers to join them It has however been asked whether these ‘prophets’ with their utterances and prophecies are truly working according to ‘true’ Christian values.

These are the ‘prophets’ (that we think) tend to exist a little too far on the controversial side:

Bishop Daniel Obinim

We can’t have a list of clergymen who are a tad problematic without naming the founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, who has been in the news several times and never for the right reasons. From assault cases to odd miracles, Obinim has had his fair share of bad publicity.

Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah

The founder of the Glorious Word Power Ministry, whose many ‘prophecies’ caused quite a stir over the last couple months, is nowadays quite shy of the spotlight.

Nicholas Osei a.k.a Prophet Kumchacha

The Heaven’s Gate Ministries general overseer has in recent weeks taken over the airwaves with many outbursts against various trending topics.

His most recent controversial conduct was the threat to sue hiplife artiste Patapaa for his ‘One Corner’ hit song.

Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa-Yiadom Opambour

He also goes by Prophet ‘One’; the founder of the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Center, he has on many occasions gone head-to-head with Bishop Obinim over who is more “powerful.”

Apostle Job Antwi

You may know him as the spokesperson for the Association of Virgin Pastors in Ghana. While he has not made any major prophetic revelations (yet), he has built an interesting conception about himself; from former Virgin Pastor to cleanser of the evil aftermath in Denkyira-Obuasi.

Rev. George Cyril Lutterodt

Yes, he is actually ordained but this popular self-styled relationship expert has gained a reputation for giving mind-boggling 'Christian' advice about love and marriages.

Evidence: Kojo Yankson, Abeiku Santana really had sex with Nana Abena KorKor

We thought that was enough not knowing for some — it is their way of life. The crinkum-crankum was exposed by Ghanacelebrities.com and according to them, Kojo Yankson in particular in several harassing messages went on and on about how HOT the girl is, and how much he wants to meet her for lunch.
So scandalous, to find out that these men were sliding into the DM of one particular girl—with the intention of getting under her pants.
Abeiku Santana, married, was in the girl’s inbox too—and asked that she sends him some of her exotic pictures.

I never lied; Sammy Awuku, Kojo Yankson and co slept with me - Abena Korkor Addo

After causing a stir over the weekend with wild allegations against NPP National Youth Organiser, Sammy Awuku, JoyFM morning show host Kojo Yankson and some other notable people, Abena Korkor has resurfaced to reaffirm her assertions.

The Former UCC student alleges that these personalities had sex with her as part of her journey of becoming a gynaecologist and sexual therapist adding that some clients paid between GH¢2,000 and GH¢3,000 per session.

Her latest outburst according to her is to set the records straight and categorically deny news making rounds that her allegations are cooked and untrue.

She also denies ever apologising for lying but stresses that she’s prepared to apologise if Sammy Awuku, Kojo Yankson, K.O.D, Giovani Caleb and others agree to open up on their involvement in the sexual activity and apologise.

On her Instagram wall, Abena Korkor said she was disappointed that people are accusing her of fabricating the story and urging her to retract it.

“They are not false allegations. I can’t live a lie. I can’t live with that I am sorry. A girl is sexually engaged and she has to apologise but the man who engaged her doesn’t. Maybe there should have been no apologies. I can’t live with that. The next time I say something everyone who think I am just crying wolf. No, I can’t live with that. We are all wrong and we all apologise if need be Why should I apologise for my manic episode. Who apologises for malaria, diabetes or hypertension” she wrote on her Instagram wall.

Abena Korkor in 2015 was in the news for releasing her naked photos and videos on social media. The then SRC presidential aspirant was reported to have had some mental issues resulting in her releasing nude visuals on social media.

NPP National Youth Organiser, Sammy Awuku has openly denied the story and expressed shock at the accusations.

5 reasons Mahama will be contesting 2020 elections

5 reasons Mahama will be contesting 2020 elections

Former president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama seems to be lacing his boots to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) into victory in the 2020 general elections.

So far, there has been claims from some party members and political affiliates of John Mahama over his political intentions but John Dramani Mahama is yet officially make known his political intentions especially as claims have it that he could be doing so very soon.

But even before he does, YEN.com.gh brings to light some reasons why Mahama may be the best choice for the NDC in the 2020 elections.

1. Political experience

There is no doubt in our minds that Mahama remains one of the most experienced politicians within the NDC. He has been vice president of Ghana under the John Evans Atta Mills administration and also president of Ghana from 2012 to 2016. John Mahama, therefore, remains absolutely exposed on the political landscape considering the various political adventures he has tackled.

2. Exposure

Talk of exposure to political engagements and Nana Addo would have the most advantage over his peers and contenders. The reason is simple! John Dramani Mahama has not engaged with various world partners over issues related to economics and trade partnerships but also has he overseen various elections across Africa. If the NDC should need any presidential candidate who could stand tall among his political peers, it would be John Mahama.

3. Youthful vibe

John Mahama managed to woo the hearts of most Ghanaians mainly due to his youthfulness and avid thirst for social media. Since we continue to learn how social media is being used to win elections across the world the NDC may as well be considering putting forward that very person who sets the political scene on a practically friendly way.

4. Familiarity

One of the key factors which determines election victory in Ghana is with the familiarity of a political candidate with the very electorates who will win them the votes and John Mahama is the best bet to that.

5. Cost

Best of all is the issue of cost. Having listed the above points it thus tends to mean that with such a well exposed and familiar presidential candidate as John Mahama there would not be the case for the opposition party to spend more cash on the marketing and publicity of a presidential candidate.

ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah is new CID boss; Bright Oduro out

ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah is new CID boss; Bright Oduro out

DCOP Bright Oduro, has been relieved of the position of Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Service.

ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, has thus been directed by the Inspector General of Police, David Asante Apeatu, to act as the Director General of the CID.

This directive is to take immediate effect, according to a document sighted by Citi News.

COP Bright Oduro was the Director General in charge of Welfare at the Police Service before being moved to the CID as the new Director General in January 2017.

His replacement, ACP Addo-Danquah, was recently in the news after being accused by Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A-Plus, of trying to cover-up some malfeasances in the probe of President Akufo-Addo’s two Deputy Chiefs of Staff.

In an audio said to be a leaked recording of a conversation between A-Plus and ACP Addo-Danquah, the police officer was heard advising the A-Plus to deny the allegations because he is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Police officer was largely accused of misconduct in the manner she handled the investigation, per the details of the telephone conversation that appeared unprofessional and compromised.

She later claimed that the tape was doctored to portray her in a bad light, a claim A-Plus denied.

Many had expected that the police officer would have been sanctioned by the service, instead of being promoted.

Bright Oduro’s removal

Reasons for Bright Oduro’s dismissal remain unknown. However, a report by the Daily Guide Newspaper on Monday suggested that there were a series of petitions against him in some land-related issues, particularly land guards. Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, has been waging a relentless campaign against COP Oduro for his alleged connection with land guards.

Just last Thursday, Mr. Agyapong was on Accra-based Oman FM lambasting the police chief over a case involving some policemen at Miotso, near Tema.

According to reports, two people – Francis Tetteh Botchway, 67; and Mohammed Dziwornu, 29 – were murdered in broad daylight at Miotso on December 29, 2016, allegedly by a team of five policemen from the Tema Regional Police Command.

The incident, which occurred as a result of a gun battle over a piece of land, also left six other persons with various degrees of gunshot wounds.

The Tema Police retrieved two pump action guns, a pistol, one AK 47 rifle with double magazine loaded, Jeep Cherokee and Mercedes Benz cars.

The CID headquarters took over investigations into the shooting incident, which occurred in the Ningo-Prampram District, but is yet to arrest and prosecute any suspect as at now.

Bright Oduro was set to retire in January 2018, but less than three months to his exit; he has already been shown the door. He was CID boss for about 10months.
